Overview of the season
For the first time since George Fleming started the lodge in 1963, Hatchet Lake did not host a single fisherman or woman this year. The covid-19 pandemic has been difficult to the say the least. The lack of excited guests arriving on our dock on changeover day or enjoying cocktails in the lounge after a day of fishing was an immense dampener on our time at the lodge this season. We knew we had to make the most of this tough situation, so early in June, Harvey, Clay and a small crew headed to the lodge for a summer of renovations and construction work.
The crew consisted of Harvey, Maxine, Steve, Emmitt, Jackson and Clay. See the picture below of our 2020 crew.

Our main focus was putting a brand new metal roof on the main lodge. For those of you that have joined us at Hatchet, you know just how big of a job this would have been. Luckily, we had fairly good weather and all though it was time consuming, this job went fairly well and the lodge looks incredible with the new roof. Check out the gallery below for progress pictures of the lodge roof or take a look at our Summer 2020 Update!
Along with the lodge roof, we installed new tin roofs on majority of the guest cabins, some of the guide cabins and 3 of our workshops/storage buildings. The gallery below showcases some of those projects!
Here is a time lapse video of the guys installing the metal roof panels on Cabin 4. Cabin 4 is one of our lakefront cabins and has a single bedroom with a king bed and one bathroom. It is one of our popular cabins for couples that join us at the lodge.
