Located SW of Hatchet Lake approximately 15 minutes flying time in the Turbo Otter float plane. Durrant Lake is an extremely popular flyout destination at Hatchet Lake Lodge due to the very high numbers of fish, species found here are northern pike, walleye and arctic grayling. If you choose to travel to Durrant Lake make sure to ask your guide to check out Crazy Narrows. Crazy Narrows is complete chaos, on a hot day you can expect a strike at your lure nearly every cast. Durrant Lake is also home to the remarkably rare SILVER PIKE! To learn more about the silver pike, check out the section "Chasing the Silver Pike" in our Hatchet Lake Experience Page or click the button below and scroll down.
Chasing the SIlver pike
If you are interested in catching arctic grayling, Durrant is an excellent lake to check out. Ask your guide to stop for shore-lunch at the rapids, that way, as your guide prepares lunch, you can venture along the river and cast for the Sailfish of the North. Both fly and spincast fishing has been a proven success for these small but feisty fish.
