The Fairmont Hotel is simply the finest hotel in Winnipeg. I know this for a fact, as I personally toured all of the major hotel properties in Winnipeg and selected the Fairmont as our starting point for your trip to Hatchet Lake Lodge. We have a special room rate arranged for Hatchet Guests, so be sure to ask for it when you call to make reservations. (Schedule your overnight at the Fairmont for the day before your scheduled departure date.)
The Fairmont staff are wonderful folks and they'll make you feel right at home. When you check-in, you'll receive special Hatchet Lake Lodge "luggage tags" and an information sheet which will bring you up to date on the departure time for the following morning. We have arranged a chartered bus to pick you up at the hotel and it will take you to the airport without charge.

Northbound Anglers: Timing is Everything!
A Hatchet Lake Lodge "Ground Coordinator" will be on-site at the Fairmont Hotel lobby the morning of your departure (4:45 am). Hatchet Lake Lodge will provide private bus transportation, which will depart the Fairmont Hotel and take you to Esso Avitat (10 Hangar Line Rd, Winnipeg Airport) to our privately chartered Convair 580. The charter plane departs for the lodge at 6 am.
New proceedures at the Fairmont with regards to luggage:
- 50 lbs. per person limit on luggage.
- Your fishing tackle and all luggage will be picked up at 9:30pm the night before departure and taken to the aircraft. Suggestions for your overnight bag (carry on) are toiletries, change of clothes and rain jacket (optional).
- For those of you arriving after 9:30pm, your luggage will be taken care of at the time of departure.
