Hatchet Lake Lodge is rich with traditions that set it apart and make your time with us memorable.

Catch and release: Alarmed by the plummeting fish population in his native Scotland, owner George Fleming instituted a catch and release policy in 1976. This has ensured an exceptional fishing experience for our guests, with larger fish being caught each year.

Native culture: Over the years George and our guests have cultivated a close relationship with our native guides, who enrich us by sharing their heritage and skills.

The pipes: In a nod to George's Scottish heritage, the lilt of a bagpipe greets you dockside upon arrival, and calls you to breakfast and dinner each day.

Private airstrip: Very few northern lodges offer the luxury of an airstrip like ours, which allows private pilots to fly in for a Hatchet Lake experience.

Service: Daily maid service, a massage therapist on staff, coffee delivered fresh and hot to you each morning, a blazing fire when you return to your cabin on chilly days – at Hatchet Lake you can relax and enjoy being pampered in the wilderness.

Food: Fine dining is a hallmark of our Lodge, with a head chef, dedicated pastry chef and delicious meals prepared fresh from scratch daily.

Shore Lunches: At mid-day, enjoy an unforgettable Hatchet Lake ritual… a delicious shore lunch!
