2011: Our Best Year Yet!
The 2011 season felt like a record breaking year in so many areas. The weather was absolutely fantastic, the fishing was incredible and Hatchet welcomed back many faithful friends. In 2011 we were also fortunate to have welcomed many friends we have not seen in recent years, as well inducted many new faces to the Hatchet experience for the first time which, hopefully, will become a tradition for them as well.
With such a fantastic 2011 season we are very excited to see if we can duplicate that experience. The 2012 season is shaping up to have its own legacy, it will be the first season after the passing of Hatchet’s founder George Fleming. George may not have been healthy enough to make it to Hatchet in the last couple of seasons but now, more than ever, his spirit and vision of what a Northern Fishing experience should be will be exemplified. Kim, the staff and I are truly dedicated to maintaining the level of service, quality and experience our guests have come to love year after year.
2012 will also see a great step forward for our clients. Hatchet is extremely pleased to announce that a deeper relationship with Osprey Wings (providers of our float plane for the last 15 years) has been confirmed by taking over the transportation to and from the lodge. Hatchet guests will now travel to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan instead of Winnipeg, Manitoba which will decrease the air time to and from the lodge by more than an hour. Travelling to Saskatoon instead of Winnipeg does not incur any additional costs for the vast majority of our guests but once there, they will be transported to Hatchet in an elegant, completely refurbished plane.
